What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You purchase a
season’s share of food at the beginning of
the season. In return, I bring vegetables and
grassfed beef for you each week, through the market
season.
With CSA, there is no need to be the first one at
market to get the
best choice. You may come to market at your
leisure; your vegetables will be waiting for you.
In a standard CSA share, I
select vegetable varieties and bring them to market
each week for you, and you come pick them up during
market hours. Advantages of CSA shares include:
-no need to be the
early-bird to market because your vegetables are
set aside for you;
-variety;
-automatic shopping - I
do the selection, you just arrive each week for
pick-up;
-an opportunity to try
unusual varieties, receive recipes and notes from
the farm, and to visit the farm.
Disadvantages of a
traditional CSA include:
-missing out on part of
the harvest if you are out of town;
-receiving varieties
that you aren’t fond of;
-wishing you had more
of certain vegetables, or lots of beef.
The Subscription CSA is now
introduced to address the disadvantages of a
standard CSA share.
Subscription CSA - Vegetables,
plus Grassfed Beef and Jerky - plus a 10% Discount
As with a standard CSA share,
you pay for your membership in advance, but in the
Subscription CSA you pay for a debit-style account.
I add a ten percent
bonus to your
membership balance. When you start your membership,
you select what you would like each week from our
supply of all-natural vegetables, grassfed beef,
and our tasty jerky. I subtract your weekly
selections from your credit balance.
Your 10% discount generally
applies to sale items, too. Your discount is
limited to purchases picked up at market.
I will send newsletters prior
to each market that we attend, listing the
vegetable varieties and beef cuts that will be
available. You select the varieties and quantities
that you would like, and I will bring them to
market for you, holding them until you arrive.
No time to read the newsletter
and make your selections? No problem. Just come to market and
select from the foods available at our booth. If we plan
not to attend market, I will let you know via the
e-newsletter, so it does help to check the
newsletter briefly. Emergencies may prevent us from
attending. We will do our best to contact you.
