What is a CSA share of
vegetables?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You purchase a
season’s share of vegetables in advance.
In return, I raise vegetables and reserve
them for you to pick up once each week, from
mid-June through mid-October.
With CSA, there is no need to be the first one at
market to get the
best choice of vegetables. You may come to
market at your leisure; your vegetables will be
waiting for you.
Veggie Bucks: The Meadow Maid® Foods CSA share differs from some CSA
shares in an important way. Each share
includes $25.00 in “Veggie Bucks” that
you may use to obtain extra produce from Meadow
Maid® Foods farmers’ market
stand. Each share customer receives the same
amount of all produce in their basic share.
But Veggie Bucks allow you some flexibility.
If you want extra tomatoes to
freeze, pickling cucumbers, some grassfed beef
(beef is not included in normal share), or other
extras, you may obtain these using your Veggie
Bucks. I will track your Veggie Buck balance
at market. Of course, when your Veggie Bucks
are all used, you may also purchase extras with
cash at the Meadow Maid® Foods stand.
Share customers also receive recipes and
other tips for utilizing the bounty of harvest.
Share customers always have
first choice on all Meadow Maid® Foods produce. I will maintain a
list of “what’s coming”, and you
may reserve your extras for the following week when
you pick up your share.
Finally, share customers are invited to visit the farm by
appointment, to
observe, learn, or help!
